I am starting from scratch, though with <4ms latency, stable and sweet. Uh-oh, Asio4all refuses to recognise the Xenyx, it's just not there.

My midi controls are not only affecting unassigned faders in Reaper, they are actually also operating Windows mixer? No probs, uninstall Behringer drivers, re-install Asio4all and I'll be back at a base point to work from.

On uninstalling Asio4all and installing the Behringer drivers 2 things became immediately apparent, the Behringer drivers are far, far superior to the Asio4all drivers.and my studio template is unusable with midi. After looking at a fair bit of stuff about optimising drivers, I, by luck more than design, came across a link to download the discontinued Behringer Asio drivers. There must be something I can do about it. I could play and record at 17ms.just, but at 22 it was a real problem. If at that point, I had left things alone I probably would have been where I was.but heck, while I'm doing these updates I might as well knock on the head something that has been bugging me since I bought a Xenyx Q802USB as an interface.the freakin useless Asio4all driver that they recommend.the lowest latency I can run for any period without popping and crackling is 17ms, and even then sometimes I'd have to go to 22ms to get it to behave. Update and restart, go into Reaper and all is good, everything is as it was. On restart AMD is bugging me to update it's driver, Oh ok, might as well. I go to restart, and Windows wants to update, yep cool, no worries, do that as well. Not a big problem, it's happened before, a system restart and she'll be all good. I download and install, but when I start working on the midi, Reaper starts crashing. Yesterday - I fire up Reaper to finish off assigning midi controls, and what do you know, an update.
